This past week I attended the #ICE18 Conference in Schaumburg, IL. I had the distinct pleasure of learning with and from educational thought leaders, teachers, tech coaches, and administrators from across Illinois. Over 3 days, I explored cross grade level collaboration, strategies for building relationships in staff meetings, mindset and technology use, visual storytelling, culturally relevant pedagogy, building trust in coaching relationships, augmented reality, gamification techniques, using LMS’s to flip learning, art as STEAM.
It was a "tech conference," but it was more than that. Every session I attended clearly put the emphasis on how technology connects us and facilitates building relationships between us, our students, and the global community. Here are my core takeaways and associated resources:
I'm an elementary school teacher turned professional learning/edtech coach, avid reader, and lifelong learner. For 2018, I've set the goal to create a 6 word memoir for (nearly) each week to find my voice, reflect on my own professional learning, and set goals for how my learning will impact my practice.
